After the flood

Status report:
heater--still working!
washer--still working!
submersible pump--done working!
dryer--still NOT working... I'm hoping there's a reset button someplace...

Here are some photos of the backyard:
This is my backyard, taken through the window of my 2nd story office.

Lake Kimbell next door:

This morning, the water behind my house was frozen white; Lake Kimbell was covered with a skim of ice. No time to take pics, however, as I had to get to work.

Tonight is the big calc quiz. I spent about 2-1/2 hours last night working problems on L'Hospital's Rule, derivatives of inverse trig functions, and definite and indefinite integrals. Between work and class, I'm going to review integration by parts; then I'll be ready. Or as ready as I can be. (Note: This paragraph is dedicated to Matty Boy, Distributorcap, and Mathman--the math geniuses of the blogging world!)

Today, in addition to the red-winged blackbirds, I saw a couple of grackles! Imagine that--being happy to see grackles. No doubt I'll be bitching later when they're eating all my birdseed.

Flooding! Calculus! Nooooo!

I hope the flood didn't hit your house too badly. Everything looks a little squishy.

Good for you on the calculus! I can't even imagine.....

I hate to admit it, but I think I'd rather deal with flood. No offense meant.

Splotch--everything is still squishy outside, but the basement is dry and only a little muddy.

DCup--if I'd been hit by the drought you've been suffering through, I'd feel the same way!

I'm glad that you are OK! About your dryer, This link makes it sound pretty bad: allexperts.com, but you might look at these links about dryers as well: hometips.com, msgboard.snopes.com, howstuffworks.com.

Dr. Z--oh noes... thank you for the links. I thought the motor and guts and stuff were up high on a dryer, but from the diagram on the second link, it looks like my motor went underwater. Oh noes... My word verif starts with IOU -- and I do owe you one. Thanks for the links!

PoP--well, I didn't do too well on the quiz, but the basement is dry! (for now)

Oh honey I had no idea this happened and you did not say a word. That sucks.

I used to get some flooding in Nyack. Once my sump pump pipe to the outside froze and I found about 6 inches of icy water in my basement.

Miraculously all appliances lived.

Wow.

I might be losing my mind, Delia. But I swear I commented before, good luck with the Calculus quiz afer all of this. How can you be an English major and do Calculus? Right-brain/left-brain...

I am late, late late. But at this point you'd better to ask the dance about the calculus. Since she is taking the course now. I took a 1 week refresher 3 years ago. My real calculus days were in 1983.
