Bird-flu? Birds flew? You decide.

Well, all my best-laid plans to go birding Sunday were dashed when I woke up with a sore throat and saw that it was kinda rainy and very cold outside. So--no birdy news there, sad to say.

I feel like I'm not even a birder anymore--I never make it out anywhere to see birds! The starlings and crows around my place are laughing at me, I just know it!

I haven't seen anything but house sparrows, goldfinches and juncos since I got back from Cape May.
Feel better. :)

Well I hope this finds you feeling better. I know the weather up there can make one feel dismal and bone chilling even on 50 degree days! The neat birds, here in the SE of pa, have also flown the coop. I keep seeing the squirrels lap up all the seed I put out or the doves compliment my choice of bird food by landing in my seed dishes and going to sleep!

So sorry, Delia--it's no fun being sick, much less missing out on plans.
But, you are still a birder--never fear.

Oh yes you are too a birder!

Take care of yourself and feel better soon. Don't underestimate the soothing of a salt water gargle.

If you're hearing laughing, turn around quickly--there's probably a duck nearby!

:-)
Feel better.

Well, crap, Delia!
Now, don't you listen to that silly Laura. She's just all pumped up because she's a BIRD WALK leader and stuff.
Cocky.

Think vegetable soup and Sudafed will fit through a cable modem?

I would think that an illness like that is a treasured badge of a true birder there. The wimps never go where they can get sick.

Besides, the birds will always be there, or back, or somewhere nearby!

Lynne--thanks!

Tina--I'm better now, but it's still so cold. I think it's kinda funny when the MoDos go to sleep on the feeder!

KGMom--whew!

NCMtnWoman--isn't it odd how well that works? I'm feeling better.

Nina--I knew it! Damn them!

Laura--what can I say? I reserve my hard-core weather birding for Cape May...

Susan--my goodness, do you think she'll ever be satisfied to just go on a walk with us again, without being THE LEADER??? hee hee hee

Rabbits Guy--I'm hopeful that the winter ducks will get here soon. Probably late November/early December. Then I'll really be hard-core!
