Wow, Lynne, night shift is awful. Any chance you'll ever move to days?

Mary, DKM, and Laura--I'm right there with you. I've told my boss that my peak hours are between about 10am and 2pm, and so really the other hours are just wasted--so why don't I just work that four-hour shift, and I'll be a work-dynamo! I wouldn't even ask for my required-by-law fifteen minute break for those four hours; I mean, I'm not greedy. Somehow, though, she didn't really see it my way... especially when I said that I'd probably be doing the same amount of work--or more!--so we could just keep my pay rate the same. I'll just have to keep working on her, I guess....

I'd love my job if it were a cute little puppy.

You know, I'm always amazed at how few people actually love (or even like) their jobs just as they are. That's sad, but I think it's very difficult for smart, aware, and open-thinking people to enjoy work in very many fields, other than teaching (and that's a stretch too, unless you're teaching at the college level--which still is far from lovable).

. . .if nothing about it changed! I do love my job. Really. What's not to love about teaching bright faces Tues/Thurs at 8 a.m. OK OK make that sleepy faces. It is still fun.
