Goals - I haz dem
I don't support outdoor kittehs, but this was a pretty cute lol kitteh, and a good lead-in to my goals for the new year.
1. Bird more often, even if it's just going out on the marsh--which is linked VERY closely to #2.
2. Get up earlier on weekdays so I can bird or exercise before work. Normally, I get up around 7:20, shower and dress, and leave the house as close to 8 as possible. It's always a harried drive to drop Kat off at school and then get to work somewhere close to on time. (okay, I'm usually at least ten minutes late. I admit it. But I have a cool boss.) This year, I'd like to get up earlier so I can spend a little time filling and watching my backyard feeders, or maybe even exercising. God knows I can stand to shed some weight. Which leads me to...
3. Eat better and do actual exercise. I own all these exercise videos and stuff, and I never do them. I need to lose about twenty or thirty pounds this year, so I'm counting on all of you to hassle me about exercising. I've cut out sodas and a lot of the junk I used to eat, but unless I start moving this old body, it's not going to make a bit of difference.
4. Keep up with my commitment to my Bigby year, taking at least one long birding walk per week.
5. Read other books besides Harry Potter. I read A LOT, but I tend to re-read my favorites most of the time, because I love them. I've probably read Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows at least ten times each, and that's just ridiculous. I would like to read some of the other books I got for Christmas instead of just lazing around with Harry and Hermione and Ron.
I have a few others, but I won't bore you with those "be a better and more thoughtful partner" ones. That's just too mushy!
So--I thank you in advance for yelling at me about exercising. I was in the best shape of my life back when I had a pal in the air force who yelled at me constantly. Perhaps I should've been a G.I.Jane. ...Or not.

Bigby rocks!
Great goals! I'm with you on them. Except I didn't mention the birding, but I'm going to keep track better of the birds I see.
Thanks for the idea.
Hi Rick, thanks for coming by! Yes, I'm really glad someone did something like Bigby.
Dcup--that's cool; you always see great birds in your area. Look for a painted bunting for me this spring; I'd love to see one of those.
Don't get mad at me in June when I remind you to go exercise more. Now get off that butt and go walk some.
I have goals, too. But right now, I don't know what they are :o)
My vote for being a more thoughtful partner is to take Kat to Magee Marsh in May. Isn't that your anniversary?
Northern Ohio is very romantic. Really! And the birds are great, too.
Susan--our anniversary is Feb 1; I think we'll be going to D.C. for a museum blitz weekend. But I'll be sure to mention how romantic northern Ohio can be in May! However, she used to live in Cleveland, so I don't know if she'll buy it!
Birding is Mother Nature's best entertainment, if you ask me. You get to be outside, you get to see beautiful things and since I have been keeping a log since like forever, you get to search for and learn stuff. I love it!
PoP, you're the coolest.
I always think I ought to keep a log of everything I see out there, but I never do--it's all I can do to remember to write down all the birds I see!
What the heck am I thinking of, then? Is it the Minnesota trip?
Hurray for getting up earlier! I set the alarm 45 minutes earlier to allow for brisk a.m. walks around the neighborhood, where I get to see/hear a nice variety of birds. You're not the only one who needs to shed 30 pounds. Sigh.
I usually avoid New Year goals like the proverbial plague. But this year, I took on two. So far, I have stuck by them--but then, the year is less than 2 weeks old. Check back in. . .oh, say, February.
I was considering the Minnesota in Feb trip--you must've been thinking about that--but Kat wasn't too keen on spending her anniversary in the zero-degree weather of the frozen north, for some reason.
Sounds like a plan.-My goal is to write a set of goals.I need more cardio workouts too.
Nice dispatch and this post helped me alot in my college assignement. Thanks you as your information.
