Here's mine:

1. Hermit Thrush
(close to the Wood Thrush but I like this one better because we have them at Haty Brook)

2. Veery
(this first bird I id'd by sound)

3. American Robin
(ordinary I know, but they are the sound of summer)

4. American Widgeon
(my first ever in Cape May with you guys!)

5. Common Loon
(can't be from Minnesota and not love the loon. Besides it's our state bird)

Delia--I don't have anything special to say--I would have to go out and listen to bird calls to identify my favorites. I just don't know birds that well.
But I just had to write a comment. Why? My word verification is beduced! I was beduced to write something.

great choices...all of them.
esp. the robin, love their songs!
Someday I will recognize more bird calls but like KGMom...I have to go with my verification word as it is identifying me as one who "cante"

The coolest thing is that now I can go listen to all your calls!

Lynne, those are cool bird calls. I do love the loon as well.

KGMom, I'm beduced as well.

Susan, of course you'd put a raptor in there. And no, I meant the bird. I think the gobble is cute. And the word "gobble" is also cute.

Rabbits' Guy--I almost put eagle too! I like it! I don't know why they always use a RT hawk's call, thinking it sounds more -- something? I like the eagle sound.

Fran--you make me smile too!

Tina--you could "cante" in the (sort-of) Spanish, which means you sing!

The woodthrush is not only my favorite bird call it is one of my favorite sounds in the world! I have it as the ringtone on my phone. Now I know there is one person in the world that will not think I'm strange when my cell phone rings!

No Wood Thrush over here, so I had to go listen to them since they're so popular with your readers. Swainson's Thrush is Bucko's favorite, but they're not the same at all (I now know).

But for me (in no particular order):
1. House Finch (Spring!)
2. Water Ouzel (That's American Dipper to all you young whippersnappers!)
3. Bullock's Oriole
4. Caspian Tern (Craap!)
5. Golden-crowned Sparrow (easily imitable)

DCup--you know where to find me!

dAwN--I love all the nuthatch calls!

MicheleRF--cool! I need to figure out how to do that on my phone. I dream about wood thrush calls sometimes. sigh.

Earl--all very cool birds! Will have to listen to them online!

Uh-oh - I can't edit my comment and their-they're-there is a bad typo in it. "Our" should be "are".

I've only been righting for 1 year now.

Narrowing it down to five would be tough but here are some that I like.
Barred Owl
Black-throated green Warbler
Winter Wren
Hermit Thrush
Brown Creeper-I was so surprised when I heard one sing-I can't remember exactly what it sounded like but it was impressive!
