Stayin' alive

I know it seems like I've disappeared, but I've been kinda swamped in political and journalistic pursuits (I volunteer for a local community paper, Voices of Central Pennsylvania) lately.

I'm still on the fence about whether to go to Cape May (just drive up for a day or something, just to hang out with The Flock when they're not on guided walks). But that's the first weekend Em will be in town since--you know--and we have a standing date at the Waffle Shop (a great locally owned place). So I just don't know if I'll make it.

As for birding around here, chances are pretty rare right now. There are some upcoming hawk watches, but while that last one I went on was cool--I think that was only because I'd never been to one before. Other than that, the local bird club and other birdy pals aren't planning any other field trips. I think we'll start to get some good ducks in November, but in the meantime--the bird pickins are slim.

I'll try to wander around outside soon--I'm definitely missing it.

Hey, you. I saw some very cool birds in Florida and thought of you.

I'm sure the Flock would love to see you if only for a day...

Sometimes when I walk around Lake Merritt in Oakland I think, dguzman would like this.

Fall migration is going on and bird pickin's are SLIM? Girl, you need to get outside.
And if you can swing it, we would love to see you frolic in the Atlantic Ocean with us.

: )

Come! Bring Em!

Fran--believe me, the volunteering is done grudgingly at best! They need the help, and I need to do stuff besides sit inside and watch Buffy...

Dcup--I bet! OH DANGIT--you didn't take your camera!

Mary--Susan said I have to "get your ass" down there!

Matty Boy--I bet I would. Water, nature, and Matty Boy--priceless.

Susan--yeah, I need to get outside more--so I'll come to Cape May!

Laura--I hope I can bring Em, but that would be a miracle.

Maybe while the rest of the world is in in Beaver Stadium watching the game head on out to Millbrook Marsh. The only thing showing up at my bird feeders these days are the woodpeckers and the doves, love and enjoy watching them but it seems the ponds and lakes are calling my name and maybe yours too!:) Do get outside!! :)

What? No time even for a stroll around that picturesque town of yours?

I shouldn't talk though. If it weren't vacation time for me, I'd be reduced to sitting on the front porch waiting for the birds to come to me. I'll be back to that next week. Argh!

Whatever you end up doing, I hope you fill us in on all the details!

Tina--there's an idea!

Earl--that's about what I've been reduced to.

Rabbits' Guy--oops, forgot to delete! How did I get spammed!?

Dear Niblet,
Thank you for your hard work on the egg impressionism project. I hear you have awesome skills in this area, keep up the good work. Maybe sometime we can share our findings in this important matter.
You spotted friend,
