Yeah, I'm kinda dumb like that

All this time I've been saying I saw a California Thrasher, but what I actually meant was a California Towhee. Duh. No wonder I hadn't noted the decurved bill. I saw Towhee in the book and wrote Thrasher on the web. Sorry.

Haven't had much time to bird; been job-hunting. I actually got a nibble today on a job I sent in my resume for -- the first nibble! I was about ready to pack it up and hitchhike back east, folks! But -- who knows. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I also got two emails from headhunters -- is that good?

Anyway -- just wanted to take care of this little thrasher/towhee confusion, for those millions of you who are hanging on my every lifer....

Okay! Thanks for the update. I was thinking of travelling to Sonoma county to see one of these thrashers. Since we have tons of CA towhees, that saves me a trip. :-)

By the way, have you noticed how their bottoms are bright orange? Liza Lee Miller in Santa Cruz has a funny picture of one in mating stance where you can see the orange. http://egretsnest.wordpress.com/2009/02/19/you-asked-for-it/

Elizabeth, I think we have CA Thrashers up here, but I haven't seen one.... And yeah, I like the red underparts. Also -- due to my ancient version of Safari, I can't comment on your bloggy! Dangit! But know that I am looking at your posts!

LOL! You are too funny, Delia. Lifers Lifers Lifers...la la la la. I have 38 from West Va trip and can only identify about ten...

My fingers are crossed for you in your job hunt. I've been unemployed twice in my life after a relocate. I know how hard it is. It's a full-time job looking for a job.

Hugs,
Mare
