The poll ends (and subliminal messages are relayed)

So the singer poll closed on Monday (I forgot to check until now), and BIG SURPRISE! Joan Baez won! Not like she was in the lead from the beginning and no one else was even close or anything.

Who knows what we'll poll next? Favorite bird? Favorite ink color? It's all up in the air, as is my life. "What's this?" you ask. "What are you trying to say?" "Well," I answer, "life at the Marsh House is about to change in a drastic way." "How so?" you inquire. "I won't be there," I answer, with a look in my eyes that clearly says "you do the math." Next post: "A change of scenery" in which I describe my new surroundings, life without Kat, and the fact that sometimes things happen to us that we just can't understand.

Yay! Joan Baez is great! She deserved it. No deep sighs here, I'm doing a victory lap for my girl Joanie!

Well, another triumph for democracy. At least, you didn't have the urge to "cook" the results. Did you? Have the urge, that is?

Delia, whatever is going on in your life, keep in mind there are tons of us in the blog world who will be thinking of you, however things unfold.

Yes--uh oh. But hey--things work out for the best. Pinning my hopes on that.

As for the poll results, YES--I wanted to mess with them! I don't like Joan Baez! I tried to, but I don't! I like Barbra! (and Diana Krall, and Eva Cassidy, and Dinah Washington, and Ella, and Judy Collins, and Joni Mitchell, and...) But the people elected their new Songstress! Hurray for Joan! And Monkey likes her!

And check out the robotic comment about subliminal messaging. I feel all Manchurian Candidate-like.

So sorry to read this! Thinking of you...hope you are holding up.

As for the best female singer award - I do like Joan Baez myself (Joni Mitchell too, but her voice in the earlier days was a little annoying - and much as I think Judy Collins has a fantastic voice, it's a little sterile and cold - too perfect, not enough warmth). But my vote for best female singer would have been Billie Holiday. I came late to this party so know that won't matter now but had to say that.
