Nice analogy! I have only seen pictures of Blackburnians, never seen one yet in real life.
I finally got over to FranIAm's blog, and found your birdblog linked there.
Mrs. Snave and I are avid birders. We mostly like to look at raptors and waterfowl/waders, but we're up for any kind of new species.
In March we will probably be in the south Texas area during my Spring Break (I'm a teacher) looking for things like green kingfishers at places like Santa Ana NWR, hoping to see Whooping Cranes near Rockport, and hoping to see all kinds of others like Green Jays, parrots in Brownsville, maybe some Scissor-Tailed Flycatchers, who knows. And some Chachalacas, just because we both like the way the name sounds.
My favorite birds are Pileated Woodpeckers (thus my icon or whatever you call my little picture on my comments), Stellar's Jays, and anything that has a crest. Crests rule!! Any kind of woodpecker is cool too. We went to SE ARizona a few years ago and I was in a state of sheer ecstasy the whole time because we saw hundreds of Acorn Woodpeckers and Bridled Titmouse. !!!
We live in NE Oregon, and the birding here is fairly good, best in spring and fall. Snow in winter, so we try to keep our feeders going to attract the finches and juncos. The Fish and Wildlife Department has done a magnificent job in restoring some wetland habitate in the valley near our town, and we are hoping to get back on the migratory flyway for numerous species. Last year we had some ibis here for the first time in about 15 years.
Good blog! I will have to link to you if you don't mind!

I love winter sunsets. It does look like a Blackburnian!

Welcome, Snave! Thanks for the link! I'll do likewise on my impeachment bloggy.
You've got to see a Blackburnian live--preferably in good morning sunlight--to truly appreciate its beauty.
Spring break in South Texas (where I grew up!) should yield quite a number of great birds for you! Have fun and good birding!
Geez-Delia--sometimes you worry me. . .taking photos at 65 mph?!
Lovely pic, though, despite your proclamations.
That's beautiful! Nice drive by shooting!
(I swear, we are two peas in a pod.)
It is a lovely sunset. But please, put down the camera when you're driving that fast! That could have been your last sunset!
The alternative is not to tell us how you took the photographs.
BEAUTIFUL!
KGMom and NCMtnWoman--well, I must admit it's kinda crazy to multi-task at high speeds. Maybe next time I'll pull over first!
DCup--hee hee hee
