Baby bird UPDATE!

This afternoon in the courtyard, little robin baby Seymour (Niki named him) was hopping around (didn't see Albert the house sparrow--again, Niki named him too), and I was wondering if he might have been abandoned. Lo and behold, Mama Robin Helen (again, Niki's work) swooped in with a mouthful of earthwormy goodness! How I wish I could've gotten a photo or even video on my phonecam, but it all happened so fast!

Here's another picture of Seymour:

I love that stubby butt!

UPDATE to the UPDATE! For some great photos of baby robins and their speckley breasts, see Birdchick's blog!

See yesterday's adventures with baby birds.

Look at that cute birdy!

Thanks for stopping by my neglected geography blog!

I am straight, but I think all kinds of people love dancing, so that is why I included all kinds of dance couples. Plus the Tango is all about love and lust and all kinds of people like those things too!

Oh and I love the bird names! My husband has a boa constrictor named Clarence. I won't introduce him to your bird friends though!

What I like best is the speckles on baby robins.

Still squealing over the cuteness.

My verification word? whirp.

Sounds like something a bird would say!

Nice work, dg. Around here the barn swallows are nesting, but the babies don't seem to leave until they are flight ready.

Missy--I like your blog; I'll have to comment more and lurk less! Thanks for the cool inclusive photos! And yeah--Clarence and the birds really shouldn't meet....

Fran--aren't they? I love baby birds.

KGMom--me too--light and speckley. The first time I saw a robin baby, I didn't know what it was! I thought it was a thrush, thanks to those speckles.

DCup--*whirp!*

Rabbits' guy--indeed, and a fine season it is!

Matty Boy--I bet swallow babies are really cute! I brought my camera today so I could try to get better pics of the babies.

I have to confess we name our visitors too... well, some of them, you know, the 'regulars' ;)
