First things first, I have FINALLY seen a red-breasted nuthatch! The little guy was on the scraggly pine at the back fence. Beautiful! and so much smaller than the white-breasted NU. Lifer! I'm now up to 130 birds, not a lot in comparison to experienced hard-core birders, but not too terrible for a relative beginner. I'm hoping to add quite a few more at Cape May!
Second, the new camera is officially on its way: Kodak Z712 IS, with 12X optical zoom (sweeeet), 7.1 MP, and image stabilization! That part really gets me jazzy. I can't wait for it to get here! I want to learn its every little nuance before the Cape May weekend. Sadly, that means I'm going to have to spend sooooo much time outside, photographing birds and landscapes and leaves and butterflies. That's just too bad....
NOT!

I feel your pain. Going outside on a fall day with a new camera (lots of bells and whistles too) looking for birds, insects and such, no human should have to suffer so. ;)
Yeah, I can't wait to start suffering through it. I'm hoping it'll build character.
Whooty hoot! Can't wait to see your new camera! Have you started packing yet?
It's so funny that you mention packing, Lynne. Just last night as I was drifting off to sleep, I was thinking, "Hmmm. Gotta start packing! I don't want to forget anything!" So I'll probably pack this weekend!
I can't wait to see the new camera either. It should be here today or tomorrow!
Packing?
Don't guess I can start that until I FIND the suitcases.
Harumph!
Looking forward to new views from your new camera!
Hi Delia - I'm glad you got a Kodak. I'm sure you will enjoy it. It will also be easy to carry around, along with your binocs, mmmm... and scope? ;-) While you are learning how to use your new camera before going to Cape May, try the video mode. I've had my Easy Share DX7590 for only a few years, but I just learned how to do the video just this summer! You should get great quality pix with your 7.1 MP and 12x zoom. Enjoy! And then let us all know how much you are enjoying your new "toy." ;o)
I can't wait for you to get that camera, either, since we'll get to see the photos (hopefully?) you shoot. I think they call that a win/win.
*doing the Snoopy dance for Delia*
What a trooper you are. Hope you can survive all that picture-taking.
The camera is here!!! Post and photos forthcoming!
Keep snapping, Delia! You need to get into the groove with your new pal.
Whoo hooo- that's my girl Delia!
Let the photos begin!
Yay to birds and to cameras.
Do you know that I can not see one bird now and not think of you? It is true.
